Duration of the contract: 36 months (from September 2012 to August 2015)

Call for applications of Erasmus Mundus Doctoral Programme EXTATIC.

A new Erasmus Mundus Doctoral Programme in Extreme-ultraviolet and X-ray Technology And Training for Interdisciplinary Cooperation (EXTATIC) will establish the first joint European PhD programme in EUV and X-ray Science and Technology. EXTATIC will commence in September 2012. EXTATIC combines excellence in state-of-the-art scientific research with the option to undertake research with industrial partners.

As in all EMJD programmes, there is a strong emphasis on international exchange of experience. During their three years of funded doctoral work, the students in the programme will carry out research at one home institution and one or more host institutions in different countries. They will spend at least six months at each host institution to combine the different research strengths of the institutions involved.

However, the EXTATIC programme not only affords the opportunity to gain expertise at different areas of science and technology, there is a range of soft skills and language courses on offer to broaden the students' horizons to the greatest extent possible.

There are eight main partners involved in the EXTATIC programme - Dublin City University and University College Dublin in Ireland, the University of Southampton and King's College London in the UK, RWTH Aachen University (Germany), Czech Technical University in Prague, (Czech Republic), the University of Padua (Italy), the Military University of Warsaw (Poland) and RWTH-Aachen University - and nine associated university partners from the EU, USA and China.
