Workshop on Quantum Science and Technology

From foundation of quantum theory to future quantum technologies: five seminars and a round table with the European leading experts in the field.

As part of celebrations for the LENS 20th anniversary, University of Florence, the Max-Planck Institute für Quantenoptik in Germany and the Italian Institute of Technology will gather leading experts in quantum technologies in a roundtable discussion about the latest frontiers of research in the field.

It will be discussed techniques for the manipulation of matter at the level of individual atoms, the cooling of atomic gases at ultra low temperatures, nanotechnology applied to both men and future humanoid robots, a possible architecture of the Internet based on the laws that govern the world of subatomic particles.

The close and long-term collaboration between the University of Florence, LENS and the Max-Planck Institute, takes a new step forward, involving centers of technological excellence as the Italian Institute of Technology and the NEST (National Enterprise for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology) Laboratory of CNR in Pisa and thus paving the way for the search for innovative technological applications of quantum theories of matter.
