Quantum gases in graphene like optical lattices: new quantum phases
New twisted superfluid quantum phase is observed in ultracold quantum gases in graphene-like optical lattices.
The talk will discuss recent developments of ultracold quantum gases in graphene-like optical lattices. A new type of quantum phase, a twisted superfluid is observed connected to a quantum phase transition. Possibilities to dynamically open and close Dirac cones will be presented as well as measurements of the lifetime of bosonic and fermionic quantum gases in higher bands.
These developments pave the way towards further connections between condensed matter systems and quantum gases and the simulation of graphene structures.
