News from the Innsbruck strontium experiment

Alkaline-earth atoms for quantum simulation and design of truly continuous atom laser.

Following the attainment of quantum degeneracy in ytterbium, calcium, and strontium, novel experiments with ultracold gases come into reach.

These experiments rely on both the nuclear and electronic properties of alkaline-earth atoms, which are different from those found in the alkalis. In my talk, I will focus on recent progress along three different research lines followed in our group: the quantum simulation of SU(N) systems, the creation of RbSr ground-state molecules, and the design of a truly continuous atom laser.
