Sensitive detection using FTIR and lasers: investigation of jet-cooled molecules

High-resolution recording of gas phase spectra and detection of van der Waals complexes in the near infrared spectral range.

We have built a number of experiments around Fourier transform interferometers and using lasers to achieve high-resolution recording of gas phase spectra and detection of van der Waals complexes in the near infrared spectral range. These experiments, including Fourier transform intracavity laser absorption, Fourier transform cavity enhanced absorption, and cavity-ring-down spectroscopies, often coupled to supersonic expansions will be presented. Their performances will be illustrated, with emphasis on results concerning van der Waals vibrational overtone excitation.
