Spatio-temporal light modulation for neurophotonics and quantum microscopy

Microscopy tecnhiques for studying the brain using light.

We have developed a microscope capable of studying the brain using light. Here we combine phase and amplitude light modulation to achieve high-speed spatio-temporal or four-dimensional patterned excitation of excitatory neurons from a rat's somatosensory cortex.

Next, I will discuss our recent work on using spatial transverse modes of light for enhanced particle tracking using squeezed light. We've applied this technique to track intracellular particles within living biological cells.
