Laser frequency stabilization to excited Rydberg transitions using electromagnetically induced transparency
Electro-magnetically Induced Transparency could be useful to prepare and probe atoms in Rydberg states.
Rydberg atoms with principal quantum number n >> 1 have exaggerated atomic properties including long range dipole-dipole interactions that lead to the so called Rydberg blockade. Atoms excited to these particular levels have been shown to be excellent candidates to implement several quantum information tasks, from two-qubit gates to single photon sources.
In this talk I will describe how Electro-magnetically Induced Transparency (EIT) could be used to prepare and probe atoms in Rydberg states. In particular I will show how EIT spectroscopy on hot atomic vapour cell could be used as a reference to stabilize the excitation laser frequency.
